The 18th national team of the Korea Youth Baseball Federation returned home through Incheon International Airport Terminal 1 after the "2024 Korea-Taiwan International Exchange Exhibition" held in Tainan, Taiwan on the 18th (Korea time).
Starting with Matsuyama in Japan in 2013, the Korea Youth League has selected a national team to conduct international exchange matches. The 62 players selected from across the country were included in the 18th national team and played a total of 24 matches with teams from Taiwan.
Team Korea dominated Taiwan with 15 wins, one draw and eight losses. Led by Kim Deok-hwan (Gurogu Youth Baseball Team) and Manak-gil (Nowon-gu Youth Baseball Team), the junior team scored more than 10 points in four consecutive games, winning all four games.
The youth A team, led by Yoon Jang-sul (Yeon Se-yu Boys' Baseball Team), Shin Chang-ho (Boryeong Youth Baseball Team), and Kim Min-beom (Bandavis Youth Baseball Team), had a shaky start with two consecutive wins, but won both games and finished with 2 wins and 2 losses.
The youth B national team led by Hwang Min-ho (Asan City Youth Baseball Team) and Park Min-cheol (Guri City Youth Baseball Team) finished their schedules with all four games. The youth C national team led by Cho Il-hyun (Wansan-gu Youth Baseball Team) and Yoon Kyu-jin (Songpa-gu Youth Baseball Team) performed well with three wins and one loss.
The youth D team led by head coach Kim Jong-jin (Dobonggu Youth Baseball Team) and manager Nam Seong-ho (Anyang City Youth Baseball Team), and the dream tree E team led by head coach Kang Eon-ho (Haman Baseball Club) and Choi Jung-ki (Gwacheon City Youth Baseball Team) finished with 1 win and 3 losses.
"I am glad that the 18th Korean youth baseball team returned home safely without any major injuries or accidents," said Lee Sang-geun, chairman of the Korea Youth League. "I am grateful to the association officials, the coaching staff, and the players of the team for their hard work over the past six days. Almost all schedules have been completed this year. I hope that the 2024 SOOP Youth Baseball Awards ceremony will be completed for the first time on Tuesday. The federation will continue to make efforts to develop youth baseball."
"Many players must have gained good experience through this Taiwan international exchange match. I hope you can return to your team and train hard and sweat hard for the future of Korean baseball," said Man Nak-gil, manager of Nowon-gu Youth Baseball Team.
